Kathy's House

Kathy’s House, a non-profit Hospital Guest House located on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus, provides lodging and a supportive environment to families who are experiencing one of life’s most stressful situations—personal illness or the serious illness of a loved one.

Kathy’s House committed to providing affordable lodging and caring support in a “home away from home” environment for families who need to travel to Milwaukee for medical care. Breaking ground in 2020, the new "Home for Healing” welcomed its first guests in June 2021.

Amenities include a communal kitchen and dining room, library, fitness and business centers,  meditation space, and more.

The guest house, located on a hilly site along the Southwest side of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC), required detailed site grading to maintain pedestrian access, not only to Froedtert, but also to public transportation stops along Doyne and Wisconsin Avenues. A large sanitary sewer, serving multiple MRMC institutions was rerouted around the building, maintaining service for those users.

Site landscaping was designed in a way to maintain the site’s existing wooded feel, by planting double the number of trees that were needed to be removed for construction. A walking path circles the entire site, with multiple planting beds for guest to take a break to experience the beauty that is, and surrounds, the Kathy’s House site.
