Village on Park Parking Garage

The Village on Park Redevelopment is a transformative initiative led by the City of Madison’s Community Development Authority (CDA), aimed at revitalizing South Madison through strategic infrastructure improvements. The project centers on the construction of a modern, state-of-the-art parking structure and comprehensive site enhancements designed to support local businesses, elevate public amenities, and enrich the experience for both employees and visitors.

Phase 1 included the development of a 6.5-level, 120,700-square-foot parking structure with 296 stalls, accommodating electric vehicles and motorcycles. Designed to meet Parksmart Certification standards for sustainable design, the structure allows for the future installation of a solar array above the top level. Additional improvements included driveway realignment, enhanced landscaping, and improved pedestrian access. Substantial completion was achieved in summer 2025.

Beyond parking, Phase 1 also featured structural roof framing, a new storefront entrance for the adjacent grocery store, and the integration of a public art installation by designer Michael Ford, celebrating South Madison’s rich cultural legacy and contributing to the visual identity of the site.

Phase 2, launched in summer 2025, focuses on converting the central surface parking lot into a vibrant green space. This phase includes enhanced landscaping, pedestrian pathways, improved circulation for mall tenants and visitors, and a continued emphasis on sustainability and community accessibility.

The project exemplifies a multidisciplinary collaboration. GRAEF serves as the prime consultant, providing structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering. JSD contributed civil engineering and landscape architecture, while STRANG led the architectural design.
