Milwaukee County Zoo Adventure Africa Rhino Exhibit

At The Milwaukee County Zoo, GRAEF’s engineering expertise was pivotal in enhancing the Rhino Exhibit, a project that involved reinforcing an existing structure to support African rhinos and hippopotamus, and seamlessly integrating it with two additional buildings. Our solution included new structural floor slabs and prefabricated steel joists to manage the exhibit’s weight requirements efficiently.

Initiated to amplify visitor engagement, the project introduced interactive elements and expansive viewing areas, elevating the overall zoo experience. GRAEF’s involvement spanned structural to civil engineering, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the exhibit’s design and functionality.

The transformation of a once underutilized area into the Rhino Exhibit has not only provided a dynamic new attraction for visitors but also established a more enriching habitat for the animals.
