Green Bay Public Market

Green Bay Public Market

The City of Green Bay’s vibrant downtown area has many interesting and unique districts. The Broadway District has been undergoing a revitalization unlike any other. Promoted as a “cultural core for entrepreneurs, creatives, residents and visitors”, it certainly lives up to that billing. It has become an energetic and eclectic downtown district that is continually adding new buildings and renovating old ones for storefronts, residential housing, office space, and restaurants.

The most recent major project underway by On Broadway Inc. is the Green Bay Public Market. This redevelopment of the Old Fort Square building at 211 N. Broadway into the new Green Bay Public Market is anticipated to cost $12+ million project is expected to attract more than one million visitors to downtown Green Bay annually.

GRAEF’s team of urban planners and engineers, along with our architect partners have been assisting On Broadway Inc. (OBI) in making this a reality. Our team completed a full assessment of the existing building facilities and, drawing inspiration from the Milwaukee Public Market and Seattle’s Pike Place Market, helped OBI develop a program and schematic design level documents that allows the facility to be flexible for multiple tenant types and sizes including food/beverage vendors and small sole proprietor shops alike.

The space will include over 20 vendor spaces of various sizes, two large anchor tenants, open seating areas, enhanced outdoor spaces with exterior food service and seating, event space, office space, and a demo kitchen. We have now moved into full detailed design with an anticipated start of construction in the first half of 2024.
