WisDOT I-94 Rawson Avenue Interchange Bridge & Ramps Construction Management

WisDOT I-94 Rawson Avenue Interchange Bridge & Ramps Construction Management

This project consisted of the reconstruction of the I-94 Rawson Avenue Interchange bridge and ramps. This was the pilot project for WisDOT’s first-time use of the Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) type of bridge construction. The spans were constructed on temporary abutments within the right of way and then moved into place over the course of one night over the newly built pier and abutment. The pier also used precast members which were connected using grouted couplers, a first in Wisconsin. GRAEF completed construction management services for this $16.3 million, highly complex construction project.

Services on this project included construction management of the following:

  • SPMT
  • Bridge Demolition
  • HPC Concrete Pavement
  • Grading
  • Storm Sewers
  • Community Sensitive Design (CSD) Treatments
