WisDOT County Q Bridge
GRAEF was selected to provide the engineering planning and design for replacing the County Q bridge over the Oconomowoc River, involving collaboration with WisDOT and Waukesha County. The existing bridge, deemed structurally deficient, was rebuilt under the Local Bridge Program. Various design options were considered to meet navigational and construction requirements while minimizing impacts on nearby properties. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) approved keeping the existing low navigational clearances, simplifying the project's approach work. The project also addressed challenges such as parkland and a boat launch near the bridge. The final design, which included guardrails due to the high-speed road, minimized disruption to these areas and met safety and access requirements set by WDNR and Waukesha County.
