GRAEF Engineer Receives Award for Volunteering for State Park Wisconsin State Parks have a Friend in GRAEF Engineer
GRAEF civil engineer, John McCarthy, recently was presented with the 2019 Hero Award by the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks at the advocacy group’s meeting in Mosinee.
The award recognizes McCarthy’s volunteer efforts in support of Lapham Peak through the Friends of Lapham Peak.
In the ceremony bestowing the award, the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks issued the following statement: “John has served on the Friends of Lapham Peak board for many years and has contributed so much to the park projects using his engineering background for the designs. He and his team have spent thousands of hours constructing the man-made snow loop. He has also worked with the DNR Parks Bureau to put a plan in place for current and future snow making needs & efforts. He was also the leader for the project to renovate the Evergreen Shelter and has successfully written grants to the Friends fund it and other improvements. He is known to be a leader and volunteer for work days and special events at Lapham Peak. John is also an avid runner and skier. Thank you, John, for going above and beyond in your support of Lapham Peak and for your dedication as a Friends member!”
