University of Wisconsin - Madison Union South
The size and configuration of the original Union South built in 1971 limited programs and activities for the growing campus. The new $94.8 million Union is 187,000 square feet with a three-level entertainment center including bowling lanes, a billiards hall, rock climbing wall, grill and live stage area. GRAEF provided structural engineering, site/civil engineering and landscape architecture services.
Union South is the University’s first LEED®-rated sustainable design project receiving LEED® Gold certification. The facility creates a new green space that serves as a gateway to the south side of campus.
The project won the WCREW Impact Achievement Award in 2011 and Top Project of 2011 by The Daily Reporter.
