Parkhaven at Pike Place
The City of Prior Lake, MN is a suburban community located about 20 miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis. The city experienced rapid growth, with a population of 16,000 in 2000, to over 25,000 in 2015. This population expansion expedited the need for quality housing in this growing, upscale community.
The community’s amenities include more than 55 parks on 1,000 acres, over 100 miles of trails and sidewalks, and 14 lakes, making it a highly desirable community for families. The new Parkhaven development will provide lake country homes in a growing Minneapolis suburb.
GRAEF provided civil engineering, construction engineering and inspection, landscape architecture and site surveying for the project to transform the Parkhaven at Pike Like project from a plan on the drawing board into a suburban subdivision.
Construction has begun on the project that adds 65 single-family homes on a variety of lot sizes, each backing up to open space and an expanded city park. The 45-acre
project will preserve 50 percent of the open space, along with dense greenery and existing tree canopies.
The project required extensive environmental controls and a ridged entitlement process. Approvals crossed multiple and overlapping jurisdictions including state and local agencies. The project included navigating city shoreland zoning, watershed
district stormwater permitting, the Prior Lake Outlet Channel crossing, DNR public water permitting, and county highway access improvement permits.
