GRAEF provided structural and civil engineering for new residence hall Marquette’s Commons project to receive In Business Commercial Design Award
The Commons, Marquette University’s new, state-of-the-art residence hall, will receive an In Business magazine Commercial Design Award as one of Wisconsin’s most outstanding commercial construction projects of 2018.
The award will be presented to J.H. Findorff & Son Inc., the Madison company that served as the general contractor for The Commons, which was built at Marquette’s campus on Milwaukee’s near west side.
GRAEF provided the structural and civil engineering for the project, which created Marquette’s first new residence hall in 50 years. The architects for the tower were Baltimore-based Design Collective and Milwaukee-based Workshop Architects.
When The Commons opened its doors last August, it became home to more than 890 Marquette students. The $108 million tower spans 292,000 square feet.
The In Business Commercial Design Awards Breakfast will take place Thursday, April 4, at 8 a.m. at the Best Western Premier Park Hotel in Madison. The magazine’s Project of the Year also will be announced at the breakfast. To register to attend the event, visit www.IBMadison.com/CDA.
