Celebrating John Kissinger: 2024 Westown Champion

We are thrilled to announce that John Kissinger, President & CEO of GRAEF, was named the 2024 Westown Champion!

The Westown Association Business Improvement District #5 has recognized John for his exceptional leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to Milwaukee's growth and development. This prestigious honor celebrates his transformative impact on the Westown neighborhood, where his bold decisions and strategic investments have reshaped the city’s landscape.

John’s forward-thinking leadership shone brightly during The Avenue redevelopment project. He was one of the earliest supporters of this ambitious endeavor, committing GRAEF to a 35,000-square-foot lease on the third floor of the former mall. This leap of faith not only provided a new home for GRAEF's 170 Milwaukee-based employees but also served as a powerful catalyst, attracting other tenants to the development. Today, The Avenue is nearly at capacity and has become the vibrant economic core of West Wisconsin Avenue.

Long before GRAEF's relocation downtown, John demonstrated his dedication to the Westown community by supporting the Milwaukee Night Market. GRAEF became a founding sponsor of the event and has continued to support it through all 10 seasons. One of the event’s most beloved features, the S’mores Lounge—produced by GRAEF—has delighted visitors and served approximately 7,600 s’mores each season.

John’s involvement exemplifies how corporate leaders can drive community engagement. His efforts have helped establish the Milwaukee Night Market as a must-visit event, bringing people together to celebrate the city’s unique culture and fostering a sense of belonging in the heart of Westown.
