Jim Hayes PE, LEED AP
Market Area Leader - Healthcare, Senior Structural Engineer
Most of my professional career has been dedicated to designing or managing health care projects. I’ve developed an appreciation for this type of work because there are so many variables to consider ... Medical technology along with health care regulations are constantly changing, which requires the design team to communicate and coordinate more frequently than most projects. That might not appeal to some, but I enjoy collaboration with the project team, brainstorming and problem solving. I’m also amazed at the work our clients do – healing and treating patients. I’m not a doctor nor do I play one on TV, but I do get the opportunity to be a small part of the health care system by working on the amazing buildings and infrastructure that supports this industry. And I consider that a true blessing!
Fun Fact: I not only work in the health care market, I’m also a big user of it’s services. I’m a Type 1 Diabetic who visits my doctor every few months … and I’m also accident prone. I’ve been a regular in the E.R. for various injuries like broken bones and concussions. Unfortunately, I passed that gene on to my children. A few years ago, I was at a ribbon cutting for a grand opening of an emergency room addition that our firm worked on. Just a few hours later, I was rushing my daughter there to get stitches!
