Green Bay Officials Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for Highly-Anticipated JBS Redevelopment Site

Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich and Department of Administration Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld came together on Tuesday to host a groundbreaking event for the City’s newest housing development.

The JBS Project, the most extensive community-led housing development in Green Bay’s history, began with a ceremonial press conference. JBS Foods donated just over 25 acres of land and $500,000 to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Green Bay.

“I’m thrilled to be able to break ground on this new neighborhood in the city of Green Bay,” said Genrich.

The new housing opportunities will include unique urban housing designs with higher density and a wide range of affordable options that provide rental and ownership opportunities.

Additionally, the city will design and build new destination community park facilities that are culturally and ecologically inclusive. Amenities will incorporate active and passive recreational opportunities for seniors, adults, and children with varying physical and cognitive abilities.

The development will aim to build between 130 and 200 units.
