Dommerich Elementary and Maitland Middle School Renovations

Renovating two schools simultaneously! GRAEF provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the renovation of an existing elementary school and a new middle school campus for Orange County Public Schools in Florida. Design included various systems in classroom, science lab, kitchen, and cafeteria and auditorium buildings. The project also included design of a 900-ton chiller plant with primary/secondary pumping system, variable air volume systems, emergency shelter, HVAC and electrical system, and full kitchen design. Short design turnaround time, limited construction budget, emergency shelter requirements, generator back-up systems, low sound level requirements for chiller plant, and coordinating with school schedule and phasing plan were all challenges overcome by GRAEF throughout the project.
