The Milwaukee Business Journal has named GRAEF President and CEO John Kissinger as one of its 2019 “Power Brokers.”

"These are the people who others turn to when they need to get something done, whether it’s a business deal, community project or raising money for a great cause,” The Business Journal stated about its award recipients.

In addition to his role leading GRAEF, a Milwaukee-based engineering, design and planning firm, Kissinger was honored for his leadership roles in several civic organizations, including the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, the United Performing Arts Fund, Employ Milwaukee, the UWM Foundation, the Zoological Society of Milwaukee, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Wisconsin, the Regional Transit Leadership Council and the Milwaukee Development Corp.

Kissinger has also been a leading advocate for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education in Milwaukee and was named the 2018 STEM Forward Engineer of the Year.

In its Power Brokers listing for Kissinger, the Business Journal stated: “John Kissinger was already a familiar face in the downtown business scene before deciding this year to move GRAEF and its 170 workers to The Avenue on West Wisconsin Avenue. That decision helped bolster the office market in that area of downtown. His engineering firm is a regular name on the region’s marquee projects, including The Avenue, and he serves as chairman of the Regional Transit Leadership Council.”
