ASCE Wisconsin Honors GRAEF Founder Luther Graef
ASCE Wisconsin Section Board has decided that the Individual Merit Award - Engineer in Consulting Practice is now renamed as follows: Luther Graef Individual Merit Award for Engineer in Consulting Practice.
Lou Graef was the last surviving partner of GRAEF, formerly known as "Graef, Anhalt & Schloemer" which he formed with Len Anhalt and Bob Schloemer in July 1961. He was active in the engineering field all his life, serving as President of ASCE, where he traveled extensively to represent Civil Engineering worldwide. He also served as the U.S. Engineering Representative to the United Nations. Lou retired from the firm in 2009 but continued contributing to the engineering field even after retirement.
The renaming of this award is in recognition of Luther’s life-long dedication to ASCE, including the Wisconsin Section.
