Wisconsin Dells Parkway (US 12) WIS 13 to Adams St.

Wisconsin Dells Parkway (US 12) is a unique urban arterial through two communities that are nationally recognized as a family vacation destination. The roadway serves a variety of users and is an essential transportation link in the area and is nearing the end of its serviceable pavement life. The roadway had deteriorated pavement, suffered significant congestion during the summer vacation season, accommodated multi-modal traffic in a limited manner, and was experiencing a crash rate that was at least twice the statewide average, including pedestrian and bicycle related collisions.

The recommended alternative consists of a 2.5-mile pavement replacement that includes a two-way-left-turn-lane (TWLTL) in the southern 2 miles of the highway. A raised median section will be utilized in the northern half mile. A multiuse trail is proposed on the west side of US 12 between a future local roadway (Olympus Road) and County A. The urban shoulders proposed in the north half mile will enhance bicycle travel within the corridor. Wider pedestrian areas, which include paved terrace areas, are proposed from E. Adams Street to County A. The proposed plan of improvement reduces the existing 110 driveways to 58 requiring extensive public involvement with the property owners located along the corridor. US 12 from E. Adams Street to County A will be partially funded through the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). Structure work along the corridor consists of 11 new retaining walls and repair work on two existing box culverts.

The project is currently in design with construction planned for 2026 and 2027.
