Texas Tech University Track and Field
GRAEF provided site/civil engineering services for the renovation of the existing R.P. Fuller Track and Soccer Stadium at Texas Tech University. The renovation included 117,225 square feet of new 13mm Mondo SX synthetic running track surfacing for the existing 400-meter, eight lane running track, as well as an interior steeple chase runway, additional infield sprint lanes, long/triple jump runways, pole vault runways, shotput pads, and new landing areas. The track and field event areas were designed in full compliance with the NCAA and IAAF specifications.
The polyurethane surface of the existing track was removed. Approximately 53,925 square feet of 13mm Mondo SX synthetic running track surface with inlaid exchange zones was installed for the track lanes. For the infield area, 63,300 square feet of 13mm Mondo SX synthetic running track surface was installed with four inlaid pole vault and long/triple jump runways, and eight 48-inch-wide sprint lanes. Two shotput areas were installed in the remaining grass infield area.
Engineering services for the renovation included a track demolition plan, track layout plan, grading and erosion control plan, drainage plan, irrigation renovation plan, and construction details plan.
