Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport Concourse D Jet Bridges
GRAEF supported jet bridge upgrades at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport’s Concourse D, enhancing gate infrastructure and passenger accessibility through comprehensive design and engineering services.
As part of the airport’s modernization efforts, GRAEF led the replacement and installation of jet bridges at Gates D35 (formerly D28) and D36, providing civil, structural, and electrical engineering along with architectural design.
For Gate D36, GRAEF delivered civil and electrical engineering along with architectural design services. The scope included replacing the existing fixed jet bridge with a more flexible apron-driven model, removing and reconstructing foundations, relocating a power stand from Concourse E, and installing a new 400A breaker. The project also included upgrades to the hold room door to support improved passenger flow and operational efficiency.
At Gate D35, GRAEF provided structural and electrical engineering and architectural design to prepare the gate for an existing jet bridge. This involved extending power to the new bridge, supplying power and data connections to the ticketing podium for computers and flight information displays, and verifying the structural capacity of existing elements to ensure safe integration.
