Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Terminal 3 Modernization

GRAEF provided structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and civil engineering services as part of a design-build team for the modernization of Terminal 3 for JetBlue Airways at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The modernization included the relocation of Gate F1 for JetBlue. The scope of work entailed utility, apron drainage, and dewatering investigations; coordinating with WWS over clearance issues with new fixed bridge; modification of the existing spaces for a new hold room; potable water connection; foundations for new egress stair, fixed bridge, high mast light, and rotunda; two penetrations in building façade (egress stair, fixed bridge); coordination of existing utilities with new foundations; and permitting.

GRAEF also provided engineering services for renovations to an existing ticket lobby as part of the modernization project. The work included the relocation of existing airport offices, expansion of the existing ticket lobby, and modification of the existing structure to accommodate new baggage systems and layouts.

The project was on an extremely aggressive schedule as the Owner needed it completed prior to the Thanksgiving holiday travel rush.
