College of DuPage PhyEd Center & Student Resource Center
The College of DuPage extensively remodeled and added on to two of its main facilities, the Physical Education Center (PEC) and Student Resource Center (SRC). GRAEF provided commissioning services to comply with LEED requirements at both buildings.
The PEC’s $24 million renovation was completed at the end of 2013 and included the addition of a 14,000-square-foot facility for student athletes, including men’s and women’s locker rooms, physical therapy, a strength lab, and training room. GRAEF structural engineers provided design for the indoor competition pool, access ramp, and surge tank replacement.
The SRC, home to the campus library, underwent a substantial interior and exterior renovation. The center has new lighting and signage, improved grand stair, updated interior finishes and a new entrance. The building’s mechanical systems were relocated to the roof, freeing up space in the lower level of the building. All commons areas, including corridors and toilets were refurbished with new finishes, fixtures and energy efficient lighting. GRAEF engineers performed the landscape lighting design and commissioning.
