Coca-Cola Refreshments Bottling Line Expansion

Coca-Cola Refreshments’ Tampa facility replaced two existing Carbonated Soft Drink (CSD) lines with two new Blow Fill CSD lines. GRAEF was part of a design-build team that designed facility modifications and system enhancements to accommodate the new blow fill lines. GRAEF is provided industrial architecture services and structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the project.

The design included process facilities such as cooling tower and associated pump, piping, and accessories; new supply and return fans, makeup air fans, and spot cooling system for the Blow Molding Area; drainage at various floor drains; DDC controls; power distribution; electrical system grounding; interior lighting systems and controls; associated fire alarm systems; electrical connections; and structural reinforcing of the existing roof.

Blowfill technology provided significant cost savings, production efficiency gains, increased product shelf life, and stacking ability and reduces the carbon footprint by eliminating empty bottle storage, handling and transport costs and reducing the amount of PET resin used to manufacture the bottles.
